With Hang — an experienced native university teacher, proud mother, and passionate language guide who has lived across all regions of Vietnam.
Native speaker · University educator · Based in Artarmon, Sydney
As a mother raising a child born in Australia, one of my greatest prides is seeing my daughter speak and write Vietnamese as naturally as a native speaker while growing up in Sydney. Her fluency is a genuine reflection of the effectiveness of my teaching approach.
I have travelled and lived across many regions of Vietnam, giving me firsthand experience with different local accents, expressions, and vocabulary. This helps me bring cultural depth and regional understanding into every lesson — so students grasp the language in a more authentic and confident way.
With a minimalist lifestyle, I apply the same philosophy to language teaching: keeping lessons simple, clear, and effective — without unnecessary complexity. My goal is to make learning Vietnamese a calm, enjoyable, and achievable journey for every student.
No rigid textbooks. No overwhelming grammar drills. Just Vietnamese that works in real life — from lesson one.
We begin with the building blocks that make everything else click. Vietnamese tones become second nature through guided practice, not rote memorisation.
Each lesson moves into language you can use immediately — greetings, daily situations, family, food — not dry textbook exercises.
Having lived across Vietnam, I introduce regional vocabulary and accent differences so you can communicate naturally with speakers from any part of the country.
Vietnamese is connected to your mother tongue and what's already familiar to you. All materials, recordings, and personalised practice are included in every lesson.

"My wife is Vietnamese and honestly that was the whole reason I started. I didn't want to just smile and nod at family dinners anymore. I did lessons with Hang face to face when we were in Sydney, then after we moved to Canberra we just kept going on Zoom — no disruption at all, which was great. She figured out pretty quickly what I actually needed and we focused on that. No fluff. My mother-in-law teared up the first time I spoke to her properly in Vietnamese. Still the best moment."
"I've studied a few languages and I'm quite particular about how I like to learn — so I was relieved to find someone who actually adapts. I did all my lessons in person at Hang's home in Artarmon, and honestly that made a big difference. You're not just sitting in front of a screen — there's a family around, her daughter wandering through speaking natural Vietnamese, the whole atmosphere of a Vietnamese household. As a literature PhD you notice these things. The language felt lived-in rather than textbook. I came away with a lot more than just vocabulary."
"We're based in New York so everything is online, which I was a little skeptical about for kids. But my children actually look forward to it, which tells you everything. The main thing for us was that they'd be able to talk to their grandparents and cousins — real conversations, not just 'xin chào'. That's happening now. My parents back in Vietnam called me after one of the video chats and couldn't stop talking about how the kids spoke to them. For a Vietnamese parent raising kids overseas, that means a lot."
No pressure. No strings attached. Just show up and discover how natural Vietnamese can feel when taught the right way.
